Shot Collar: Tell us a little about yourself.
James: My name is James Tibbs. I'm from Marietta, Georgia, and I am a junior outfielder for Florida State.
Shot Collar: Talk us through your pre-game prep.
James: Pre-game prep is all about getting loose, getting focused, getting my mind right…a lot of prayer, a lot of gospel music, and a lot of stretching. I go to the hot tub, roll out, then do some band stretching. I take some swings off the tee. I take some flips and get ready to go.
From there it's get some food in me and prepare as we go into the pregame hitting.
Shot Collar: What is your pre-ab mindset?
James: My pre-ab mindset is solely based off of trying to figure out what the
pitcher does and how I can best compete against him with what I'm able to do. It starts in the dugout, watching him, watching him warm-up, figure out what I
need to be focused. I watch what he's throwing and try to figure out his speed as well.
Then as we get on deck, first thing I do is grab one of the Shot Collars and put it straight on my bat. I take some swings. Warm up. Get ready to roll and then continue to try to make sure I'm timed up, ready to swing, my foot's down on time. And then a lot of times I’m watching to see what the guy in front of me does and how he’s getting pitched. From there I get in the box and get ready to roll.
